On 21st July, 2025 Week 2 of the Teaching Together program officially opened at Bishop Willis Teacher Training Institute in Iganga, Busoga Region. This professional development initiative—jointly implemented by the Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU) and the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF)—is part of a broader commitment to strengthen teaching quality across Uganda.

Serere District | 23rd July 2025 — The Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU) held a performance management training for head teachers at Shaan Gardens in Serere District. The training aimed at strengthening school leadership through improved understanding of performance appraisal systems, the HCM system & reporting lines in the education sector.

Week One of the Teaching Together Program officially came to a close at Bishop Willis Teacher Training Institute in Iganga, Busoga Region, on 18th July 2025.

The Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU) convened a strategic stakeholder engagement meeting with Western Region Strategic Managers on July 15, 2025, at Fort View Resort in Fort Portal City. The event brought together UNATU’s General Secretary, Regional Chairperson – Western, Regional Coordinator, District Branch Chairpersons, and the Gender Officer, alongside key education leaders from across the region.

The Teaching Together 2025 program Western Region officially commenced its first week of training at Canon Apollo Teacher Training Institute (TTI) in Fort Portal City, with 50 enthusiastic participants drawn from the districts of Kitagwenda and Bundibugyo.

Today marked the official launch of the Teaching Together 2025 Planning Meeting, held at the UNATU Secretariat in Kampala. This two-day engagement (10th–11th July) brings together 8 Canadian and 8 Ugandan co-tutors to collaboratively prepare for the upcoming Teacher training sessions set to begin on July 14 in the Western and Busoga regions of Uganda.

UNATU Central Region hosted a spirited Post-Primary Workshop at Teachers’ House in Kampala on July 3, 2025, bringing together educators from secondary, TVET (formerly BTVET), and tertiary institutions. The gathering created a powerful space for honest dialogue, reflection, and recommitment to the union’s mission of safeguarding the rights and welfare of all teachers.

On 2nd July 2025, the Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU) held a crucial Stakeholders’ Meeting at Teachers’ House, Kampala, bringing together Human Resource Officers (HROs) and union leaders from the Central Region. The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation between HROs and UNATU leadership to address the evolving challenges faced by teachers.
