Dear all,
Please find attached the
PRESENTATION TO THE PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION AND SPORTS
Download the document to find the details there in.

Both arts and primary teachers need salary enhancement.
We need equal treatment, thanks
I thank you our representatives, does the govt know that teachers are renting, buy water, sugar, food etc if they get the money that give us and relate to the current situation does it much accordingly.
Big up our representatives but what will be the outcomes? This govt i know very well.
The current government of Uganda should also understand that teachers are human beings like any other civil servants who equally need economic equality, there is too much imbalance when it comes to allocating resources to different sectors , education sector is completely ignored as huge domes of money is allocated to those sectors the government deems right to receive such amount.
Just like any other human beings who desires a good life, teachers to need salary enhancement to enable them meet personal economic and the needs of the family members.
Amidst difficult economic conditions many have failed to continue with education or even pay the fees for their children at school. This has made most teachers’ children can go farther with education.
I request that government considers the teachers’ plea for better pay.
I salute you my union leadership for playing your part so well.
Let us pray for God’s intervention so that our Government can wake up and treat us (primary teachers and those of humanities in secondary schools) as humans who expend like those of so called scientists.
That language is bad,
So called scientists???
You should have also taken those subjects but you took them as optional, so relax and pray for unatu to have their voices listened to.
Unatu leadership has ably represented the issues that affect teachers across all sectors. You have ably echoed what is in the hearts of the teaching fraternity. The government shouldn’t remain static on this issue. Let the government be dynamic and listen to what our leaders have presented. Because We Are,The Nation Is.
We pray the government should yield to our request and give us a mea.ningfull enhancement.
Let’s hope for the best results, otherwise thanks for the updating the country about the miserable life teachers are passing thru
Let’s hope for the best results, otherwise thanks for updating the country / government about the miserable life teachers are passing thru
Let pray for positive feedback from the employer. Thank you unatu for the efforts. It’s not a simple struggle
Let’s pray for the meeting to yield something positive. Otherwise, we are so much suffering the consequences of a pea nut pay.
Master Vansio Isingiro.
Timely step forward 🏃♂️ We await for government response to that effect.
We need government to step forward addressing this long standing issues other than causing divisionism within education sector. We need money to upgrade, feed, treat, educate our children etc. Just like other citizens since we go to the same direction.
Why don’t u leave them until they understand the value of a teacher.for how long will u keep begging?Do u need to explain to any one about the life of a teacher?how much money is being stolen everyday?REQUEST;let us coordinate with our supervisors sothat they give us peace inorder to look for salary increment.
Good step, thanks to Hon.Baguma and team (the whole NEC) for the part so far played
But committe dead to give updates soon as possible to make the teachers hearst also to get hope.
Teachers lost hope n little mind and attention is given to class.
It was bad lesson given to teachers to learn and witness.
We cant collect firewood from the same forest we come to the same home, with our same mother, then as aparent you say Tom will eat fish this evening for the work he has done and Kennedy will eat roasted cassava for the work he has done imagine we all collected firewood!!!.
Tom won’t be happy because he has reasoning capacity to ask himself why Me being mistreated.? No reason found! No more firewood collection.
And teachers are doing this. Teaching is not there🥺
If wishes were horses, Everyone would ride and so ,I would make things marvelous for Teachers if I were in the Legislative council arm of the Uganda Government . Otherwise it’s a petty to all Teachers.”Because we are The NATION is”
I can’t forget to make mention of UNATU leadership thank you for your great representation well done. I can’t believe that parliament or even the Education ministry will ever fight to address teachers issue, because it seems to be a pathway to personal benefit of whosever succeed in a top political position. The business is opening up schools now who can struggle to fail his or her business wapi…
That is a nother form of corruption, fight that before you go to other forms, we need equality for all
But let’s this not be an invigorating facts, we need positive impacts. Science are taught at primary level with a slight change at s.3, all teachers from nursery to hold degrees of which others turned up as the new education policy demands to effects measurable payment etc . What will be the criteria, how and when will this be effected or its a comedy/jokes?
Government is just looking when the education standards in Uganda are ditoriating from time to time.
Ohh God bless the primary teacher
Thanks! The job is being done 👍
We are tired of hearing only words but no implementation. We started to think that UNATU is deliberately playing on teachers’ minds to keep time go for the government to continue paying teachers peanut salaries.
Where is Tweheyo? And where Tweheyo is, is where Baguma will also be very soon.
What is the reason of a primary teacher earning less than at least a million?
Our Members of Parliament have also refused to help us. They only talk, thinking that this can please us.
It’s true My dear
We thank you our leaders to wake up government towards salary enhancement.let them know that they are not the only ones in uganda.time for voting is coming.
Let primary teachers also be paid a salary commensurate to their qualifications. Whatever is happening to secondary teachers in terms of payments should also be to primary teachers. That will be fair enough.
Thanks Baguma! That’s the way to go.
The presentation is good and timely
Only that it doesn’t spell out the next course of action and time frame incase nothing is done about it.
Every thing is done. We have cried, shouted etc without any tangible results. However punishing the innocent learner is punishing ourselves. We leave everything to God. He will come to our rescue onetime.
I thank the UNATU leadership, government should know that it’s the primary teachers who taught them. They have indeed pressed us harder but GOD sees.Telling poor teachers to gain diplomas and degrees,I think they are soon saying masters. This un fair treatment when those earning millions are certificate holders, what wrong did primary teachers do is the question we ask to be pardoned like all others.
May God intervene in this…..unatu leaders…i feel sorry for you because you must be spending sleepless nights with disgruntled members.
Education ministers should take this comprehensive matter of concern empathetically, education ministers Janet kataha, Honorable muyingo,Obua,I know you are teachers, be fair, just and caring for the affairs of your colleagues, save the Nation and the innocent Ugandans (children)
My brothers and sisters, let’s not be divided ie scientists, none scientists primary etc. I request that we keep United and advocate for our rights as teachers and educationists.
Remember, United We Stand Divided We Fall
The salary disparity is very unfair. This Government should be empathetic!
If Uganda government values the work we teachers are doing and know how education contributes to economic social political morally and spiritua wellbeing of a country like Uganda, It would worked well for every Ugandan .Please somebody should tell me In which perspective is Government thinking? Could it be so political or Economical?
Years of struggle lie behind, ceaseless labour little gain, ever shall these years remind us.Alternating sorrow and joy, sunshine follows after rain
PM was mockingly saying that till the economy of the country improves that’s when they will try to think of salary enhancement for arts teachers in secondary sector & primary school teachers. Why can’t we put down chalk & wait till economy improves when we can afford to buy chalk, bks, pens, & pay fees for our chlidren? UNATU, some times we think hard that you’re selling us by calling off off industrial actions. Industrial action must run like slow punch When loomed
I specialised in Maths/Bio and many other teachers are there with similar qualifications but why does the government say that there are no scientist in primary. And worse still it doesn’t consider other qualifications a primary teacher obtains apart from the G111 certificate and yet at other levels it pays according to qualifications. If these additional qualifications are not considered, then it looks worthless to go for diplomas and degrees
