On 15th September 2025, UNATU resumed Industrial Action following the Government’s continued silence on the issue of salary disparities between teachers. This action was resolved by the National Executive Council (NEC) and Branch Chairpersons after three years of unfulfilled promises and unfair treatment of the majority of teachers.
After 32 days of Industrial Action, the National Executive Council (NEC) and Branch Chairpersons have decided to suspend the action on 16th October 2025, pending further negotiations with the Government.
This Industrial Action was:
Lawful and peaceful in line with the rights of workers.
About equity and fairness — no teacher should be left behind.
Nationwide, covering both Primary and Post Primary institutions.

We really deserve better as teaching can not allow you engage in other activities at all. Let them terminate our contracts at least. Stress may kill us for nothing.
