On 15th September 2025, UNATU resumed Industrial Action following the Government’s continued silence on the issue of salary disparities between teachers. This action was resolved by the National Executive Council (NEC) and Branch Chairpersons after three years of unfulfilled promises and unfair treatment of the majority of teachers.
After 32 days of Industrial Action, the National Executive Council (NEC) and Branch Chairpersons have decided to suspend the action on 16th October 2025, pending further negotiations with the Government.
This Industrial Action was:
Lawful and peaceful in line with the rights of workers.
About equity and fairness — no teacher should be left behind.
Nationwide, covering both Primary and Post Primary institutions.
UNATU remains committed to ensuring that teachers’ rights are upheld and that equitable treatment is achieved for all educators across the country. On 15th September 2025, UNATU resumed Industrial Action following Government’s continued silence on the issue of salary disparities between teachers. 300% salary increasment for us left plus areas for the three years, this is what government needs to do, to make teachers feel like there fellow science teachers and tell government that science teachings begins from primary, a good building needs to follow the ”bottom up approch”.
Government should be aware that all discipline are equal science that they talk about begins from primary where they are mistreating the teachers, talent are different without art they will not get pilot to operate the plane for their forces and airlines. Our dear chairperson stand firm teachers are with you.No 100% increase no classroom.Because we are the nation is.
Long live our Union,we are eagerly waiting from you our dear leaders we can’t betray ourselves because of any other scaring statements “The nation is because we are for the union makes us strong”
We really deserve better as teaching can not allow you engage in other activities at all. Let them terminate our contracts at least. Stress may kill us for nothing.
Hoping the leadership of the union has not betrayed the members. And if so then we wouldn’t have tortured the innocent learners. And also if you leaders have taken bribes then better to leave the union than the union deducting 1% and doing nothing only to benefit them selves. I remain a bleeding teacher

This time be firm and mean it
Is there any negotiations yet?
Let the struggle continue
True, teachers deserve better pay
