Teaching Together 2025 Officially Closes with High Praise from Canadian Team

On 27th July 2025, the Teaching Together Program 2025 officially came to a close with a reflective evaluation session held at Teachers’ House in Kampala. The session brought together the entire Canadian delegation of eight tutors from the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF)—split across two regional teams that supported the training in Busoga and Western Uganda respectively.

Over the course of two intensive weeks, the program reached 200 teachers across Mayuge, Bugiri, Iganga, Bundibugyo, and Kitagwenda districts, hosted at Bishop Willis Teacher Training Institute (Busoga Region) and Canon Apollo Teacher Training Institute (Western Region).

The Canadian team expressed immense gratitude to UNATU for the warm hospitality and smooth coordination of the program, scoring their overall experience at above 90%. This enthusiastic feedback is a testament to the professionalism and impact of UNATU’s efforts to support teacher development in Uganda.

The core themes covered throughout the program included instructional strategies, classroom management, learning styles, leadership in education, gender responsiveness, unionization and teachers’ rights. Through interactive sessions and peer learning, the teachers emerged better equipped to lead transformative, inclusive, and learner-centered classrooms.

As the evaluation concluded, all stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and using the Teaching Together framework as a foundation for future collaboration between Ugandan and Canadian educators.
