This month’s issue of The UNATU Connect highlights key union engagements and advocacy efforts undertaken in March 2025. The edition features coverage of the revived People’s Parliament television programme, where UNATU leaders joined education stakeholders to debate critical issues on education policy alignment, gender equity, and learner retention.
The newsletter also reports on the Women Empowerment Workshop held for female leaders in Nakawa Branch in commemoration of International Women’s Day 2025, alongside a message from the General Secretary and reflections from the National Chairperson on advancing gender equality within the education sector.
Additionally, the SIMAMENI Project boosted implementing schools in the Teso and Western Regions with sewing machines and gender-responsive teaching materials to support menstrual hygiene management and inclusive learning environments. Pictorial highlights of material distribution and training sessions are featured. The Eastern Region’s stakeholder mobilisation and membership education drive further demonstrate UNATU’s commitment to strengthening union engagement and teacher support structures.
