The Work No Child Business (WNCB) Project’s ICT training continued in Nakapiripirit, bringing together headteachers from Kakomongole and Mourita sub-counties. Led by UNATU Program Officer Kalamagi Gowan, Regional Coordinator Akajo Lucy, and Nakapiripirit Chairperson Ouma Sombi, facilitators from the UNATU Communication and IT Department. The two-day workshop aimed to provide Karamoja’s educators with essential digital skills to enhance their teaching and administrative effectiveness.
Akajo Lucy the UNATU Regional Coordinator, Karamoja began with a welcome address, highlighting the importance of the training and introducing the facilitators. She noted that the skills gained would not only help with computer literacy but also empower participants to use mobile technology more effectively in their work.
To assess the immediate impact of the training, a pre-test and post-test were conducted. Led by IT Officer Stella Abongomera, the sessions covered computer basics such hands-on skills in basic Computer parts, Microsoft Word which included typing, editing, and formatting. Participants showed clear improvement from the pre- to the post-test, reflecting the workshop’s success in boosting digital skills on the first day.
Nakapiripirit Chairperson Ouma Sombi expressed gratitude for the training, acknowledging that while the WNCB Project is coming to a close, the knowledge gained would continue to benefit schools and communities. He thanked the facilitators for their effective presentations, commending the participants for their enthusiastic engagement.
This strong start to the training in Nakapiripirit has already demonstrated its impact, equipping educators to step confidently into a digitally-connected future for the Karamoja Region.
